Richard B. Russell Lake is a man-made reservoir located in the state of Georgia in the southeastern United States. It is located in Elbert County, near the border with South Carolina. The lake covers an area of about 26,000 acres and has a shoreline of over 500 miles.
Richard B. Russell Lake was created in the 1980s as part of a project to control flooding on the Savannah River. The lake provides water for municipal and industrial use, as well as recreational activities such as boating, fishing, camping, and hiking.
