⚓ Who is Boat Rex?

To be honest, it’s easier to tell you who I’m not. I’m not a big corporation with deep pockets. I’m just a guy who loves being on or near the water — and who also happens to enjoy writing code.

I grew up in what used to be a small town: Georgetown, Kentucky. Back then, Cane Run Creek was my playground. It had everything a kid needed — fish, woods, a few good hills, and endless room to explore. Before the internet existed, that creek was our entertainment, and a handful of neighborhood friends and I made the most of it.

🎣 My parents were big into fishing, so having a creek within walking distance was paradise. They would often rent a johnboat on Guist Creek Lake. It’s not a huge lake, but when you’re young and sitting in a johnboat, it feels like an ocean. We’d fish all day, pull up to shore for lunch, build a fire big enough to roast hotdogs, put it out, and get right back on the water. I don’t remember ever catching our limit — but I do remember having some of the best days of my life.

🌊 I’m older now. Some might even call me a grown‑up. I suppose that’s true… until you put me near a body of water. Then my eyes open wider, I breathe easier, and a new adventure begins. Call it passion or call it something else — I call it living.

🚤 Over the years, I’ve owned a few boats of my own. I’ve also learned that BOAT stands for “Break Out Another Thousand.” Somehow that hasn’t slowed me down. My thirst for the water has never been quenched.

As time has gone on, I’ve noticed my memory isn’t what it used to be. I’d forget when I had repairs done, who did them, and whether I was satisfied. That — along with a handful of other reasons — inspired me to create Boat Rex.

🛟 I want Boat Rex to be genuinely useful — something that helps people without putting strain on anyone’s wallet or their time on the water. But I’m a one‑man crew, and I don’t have the time or the funds to pour into advertising. So I don’t know if Boat Rex will ever become widely known… but who knows.

I don’t see myself paying for ads. That feels like watching money burn — and as a boater, I’d rather spend that money cruising. So I’m offering the site, the app, and everything that comes with it for you to use, explore, and critique for free. If you list your boat for sale, it will remain free for as long as I can stay afloat. You’ll be able to share your listing on social media or print a good old‑fashioned flyer to pin up at your local marina.

The way I see it, if I can help you, maybe you can help me keep my own adventures going — by keeping fuel in the tank ;)

Keep it simple, happy boating and God Bless!!!

Your fellow mariner,
James Humphrey
