Lay Lake is a 12,000-acre reservoir located in central Alabama, USA. The lake was created by the construction of the Mitchell Dam on the Coosa River in 1919. The lake is owned and managed by Alabama Power Company and is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities. The lake is known for its largemouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill, and crappie fishing. There are several marinas and public boat ramps around the lake, as well as campgrounds and picnic areas. The lake is also home to several species of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and great blue herons.
