Lake Pleasant is a large reservoir located in the northern part of the Sonoran Desert, about 35 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. It was created by the construction of the Waddell Dam on the Agua Fria River in 1927. The lake covers over 23,000 acres and has a shoreline of more than 116 miles.
The lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, water sports, camping, hiking, and wildlife watching. There are several marinas, boat ramps, and campsites around the lake. Lake Pleasant offers opportunities for fishing for a variety of species including largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, and carp.
