About this destination
Lake Tulloch is a large freshwater reservoir located in Calaveras County and Tuolumne County, California. It was created by the construction of the Tulloch Dam on the Stanislaus River. The lake is managed by the Tri-Dam Project, a joint power authority consisting of the Oakdale Irrigation District, South San Joaquin Irrigation District, and the City and County of San Francisco.
The lake has a surface area of 2,200 acres and a maximum depth of 130 feet. It is a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, and other water sports. Local campgrounds, RV parks, and vacation rentals provide accommodations for visitors.
The lake's shoreline is heavily developed, with many private homes and vacation properties. The town of Copperopolis is located on the northwest shore of the lake and is a popular hub for shopping and dining. The Lake Tulloch Resort and Country Club offers golfing and other recreational amenities.
