Whiskeytown Lake is a reservoir located in Shasta County, California. The lake is situated in the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area, which is managed by the National Park Service. The lake was created in 1963 by the construction of Whiskeytown Dam on Clear Creek. The lake covers an area of 3,200 acres and has a shoreline of 36 miles. It is a popular destination for boating, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, and picnicking. The lake is surrounded by scenic mountains and forests, providing numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. It is also home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and black bears.
