Kensico Reservoir.
The Kensico Reservoir is a man-made reservoir located in Westchester County, New York, USA. It is one of the several reservoirs operated by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. The reservoir was created in 1915 to supply water to New York City. It is situated within the Kensico Dam Plaza, which was built in 1925-26 and designed by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. The dam at the reservoir is 307 feet high and 1,843 feet long, making it one of the largest in the world at the time of its construction.
Today, the Kensico Reservoir is an important part of the New York City water supply, providing approximately 15% of the city's daily water needs. The reservoir is also a popular recreational site, with fishing, boating, and hiking trails available for visitors
