Saylorville Lake is a reservoir located on the Des Moines River in central Iowa. It is north of the city of Des Moines and spans over several counties including Polk, Dallas and Boone. The lake was created in 1977 by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood control, recreation and water supply purposes.
