Payette Lake is a natural alpine lake located in the western United States, in the state of Idaho. It is situated in Valley County, in the heart of the Payette National Forest and is approximately 100 miles north of Boise.
The lake is 5,330 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 392 feet. It is home to various species of fish, including rainbow trout, lake trout, kokanee salmon, and smallmouth bass, making it a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts.
Payette Lake is also a hub for outdoor recreation activities, including swimming, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and camping. In the winter, the area offers great skiing and snowmobiling opportunities.
The town of McCall, located on the southern side of the lake, offers a variety of accommodations, restaurants, and shops. The lake and surrounding area attract visitors year-round, making it a vibrant and scenic destination.
