Indiana
About this destination
J. Edward Roush Lake, also known as Huntington Lake, is a reservoir located in Huntington County, Indiana. The lake covers approximately 900 acres and is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The lake was named in honor of J. Edward Roush, a former Indiana congressman who served from 1959 to 1969. Roush was a strong supporter of environmental conservation and played a key role in the creation of several national parks and wilderness areas during his time in office.
J. Edward Roush Lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and camping. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. There are several boat ramps and fishing piers located around the lake, as well as a campground with over 200 sites.
In addition to recreational activities, J. Edward Roush Lake also serves an important role in flood control and water management in the region. The lake is part of the Huntington Reservoir system, which helps to regulate water levels in the Wabash River and provide irrigation for local farms.
