Hillsdale Lake is a large reservoir located in Miami County and southern Johnson County, Kansas, just south of the city of Paola. The lake was created by the construction of the Hillsdale Dam on the nearby Marais des Cygnes River in 1982. The lake covers an area of approximately 4,580 acres and has a maximum depth of 57 feet.
The lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and other water sports. Fish species in the lake include largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and walleye. The lake also has several public boat ramps and fishing docks.
Surrounding the lake are several campgrounds, picnic areas, and hiking trails. The Hillsdale State Park is located on the north shore of the lake and offers a variety of recreational activities, including camping, hiking, swimming, and boating. The lake also has several marinas and boat rental establishments.
