About this destination
Walden Pond is a 62-acre lake located in Concord, Massachusetts. It was made famous by Henry David Thoreau's book "Walden; or, Life in the Woods," which he wrote after spending two years living in a cabin he built near the pond. Today, the pond and surrounding area are preserved as the Walden Pond State Reservation, a popular destination for hiking, swimming, picnicking and contemplation. The water in Walden Pond is considered some of the clearest in Massachusetts, and visitors can often see fish and other aquatic life just beneath the surface.
