Maryland
About this destination
Lake Kittamaqundi is a man-made lake located in downtown Columbia, Maryland. The lake covers an area of approximately 27 acres and was created in the early 1960s as part of the development of Columbia. It is surrounded by a paved walking path, a small beach area, and several public parks. The lake also features a small island and a fountain. The name "Kittamaqundi" comes from the name of a chief of the Susquehannock Native American tribe who lived in the area before the arrival of European settlers. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other recreational activities.
