Lake Taneycomo
Missouri
About this destination
Lake Taneycomo is a man-made lake located in both Taney and Stone counties of Missouri. It is formed by the White River, which is impounded by the Powersite Dam. The lake is approximately 22 miles long and runs from the dam in the southeast to the city of Branson in the northwest.
Lake Taneycomo is known for its cold water, which is released from the depths of the Table Rock Lake Dam. The water temperature remains cool year-round, making it ideal for trout fishing. The lake is stocked annually with rainbow and brown trout, and anglers can also catch other species such as bass, catfish, and sunfish.
Besides fishing, Lake Taneycomo is popular for boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. There are several marinas and boat rental companies around the lake, offering various watercraft rentals, including pontoons, fishing boats, and kayaks.
Another popular activity at Lake Taneycomo is hiking and biking along the trail that runs along the shoreline. The trail provides stunning views of the lake and the surrounding Ozark Mountains.
In addition to outdoor activities, there are several nearby attractions and entertainment venues in the town of Branson, including live shows, theme parks, golf courses, and restaurants.
