About this destination
Stockton Lake is a man-made lake located in southwest Missouri, near the town of Stockton. It was created by the construction of the Stockton Dam on the Sac River in 1969. The lake covers over 24,900 acres with a shoreline of over 300 miles.
The lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming. It is known for its clear, deep waters and abundant fish populations. The lake is stocked with bass, crappie, catfish, walleye, and sunfish. Anglers can fish from the shore or from boats, and the lake has several boat ramps and marinas for easy access.
The lake also has several camping areas, including campgrounds with RV hookups and primitive campsites. There are also several hiking trails around the lake, including the 13-mile-long Cedar Ridge Trail.
In addition to recreational activities, the lake serves as a major source of water for nearby communities and has been used for flood control since its creation.
