About this destination

Lake Sherburne is a reservoir located in Glacier National Park in the state of Montana, in the United States. The lake was formed when a dam was built on the St. Mary River in the early 1900s to provide hydroelectric power for the Great Northern Railway. The lake is about 10 miles long and covers an area of over 2,200 acres. It is surrounded by the scenic mountains and forests of Glacier National Park, and offers a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, boating, hiking, and wildlife watching. The lake is also an important source of water for the St. Mary Irrigation Project, which provides irrigation water for agriculture in northeastern Montana.
