Linville Lake is a man-made lake located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. It is created by the Linville Dam, which was completed in 1952 and impounds the Linville River. The lake has a surface area of 1,554 acres and a maximum depth of 140 feet. It is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest and offers fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking opportunities. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, deer, and birds of prey. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway or take a short hike to see the iconic Linville Falls.
