Shearon Harris Reservoir is a man-made lake located in Wake County, North Carolina. It was created in 1987 by the construction of a dam on the New Hope River. The reservoir covers an area of approximately 4,100 acres and has a shoreline of 149 miles. It is used for drinking water, flood control, and outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking. The reservoir is also home to various wildlife species, including bald eagles, ospreys, and largemouth bass. The reservoir is named after W. G. Shearon, the former president of Carolina Power & Light Company.
