About this destination
Johnson Lake is a reservoir located in south-central Nebraska, near the city of Lexington. It was created in 1941 by damming the headwaters of the Republican River. The lake covers approximately 2,068 acres and has 14 miles of shoreline. It is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and camping, with several campgrounds and day-use areas located around the lake. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including walleye, largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. Johnson Lake State Recreation Area is located on the west side of the lake and offers camping, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
