Morphy Lake is a small freshwater lake situated in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico, United States. The lake is located at an altitude of 8,000 feet above sea level and covers an area of 30 acres. It is surrounded by dense fir and aspen forests, making it a popular spot for hiking, fishing, and camping. The lake is stocked regularly with rainbow trout and is open year-round for fishing. The area around Morphy Lake was originally settled by the Jicarilla Apache tribe, and later by Spanish explorers and settlers. Today, it is maintained by the New Mexico State Parks department as a recreational area and campground.
