The reservoir covers 130 acres and has a maximum depth of 40 feet. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, brown trout, and channel catfish, making it a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. In addition to fishing, the Ponderosa Reservoir area offers opportunities for boating, camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing. There are three developed campgrounds around the lake, as well as numerous picnic areas. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, deer, black bears, and mountain lions. Ponderosa Reservoir is easily accessible by car from State Highway 53, and there is ample parking at the lake. However, visitors should be aware that the area can become crowded on weekends and during the summer months, so plan accordingly. Additionally, visitors should be prepared for changing weather conditions, as the area can experience sudden storms and high winds
