Santa Cruz Lake is a reservoir located in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. The lake is located about 20 miles northeast of Santa Fe, and is situated in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Santa Cruz Lake was created by the Santa Cruz Dam, which was built in 1929. The reservoir covers an area of 121 acres and has a maximum depth of approximately 75 feet. The lake is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and camping, and is stocked regularly with rainbow trout, brown trout, and other fish species. The surrounding area is also popular for hiking and mountain biking, with a number of trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests.
