About this destination
Emigrant Lake is a reservoir located in southern Oregon, approximately 6 miles southeast of Ashland. It was created in 1924 with the construction of the Emigrant Dam on Emigrant Creek, a tributary of Bear Creek. The lake has a surface area of approximately 1,200 acres and a maximum depth of 77 feet.
Emigrant Lake is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, including fishing, boating, swimming, and camping. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, bass, and other fish species, and fishing is allowed year-round. The lake also has two boat ramps and boat rentals available.
There are several camping options at Emigrant Lake, including tent and RV camping, as well as cabins and yurts available to rent. The park also has hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, and a disc golf course.
In addition to recreation opportunities, Emigrant Lake also serves as a source of water for the city of Ashland and irrigation for local agriculture.
