Lost Lake

About this destination
Lost Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, USA. The lake is around 255 acres in size and is located at an elevation of around 3,000 feet. The lake is surrounded by dense forests of Douglas fir, cedar, and hemlock trees.
Lost Lake is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, boating, and camping. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and there are also opportunities to catch kokanee salmon and steelhead. Visitors can rent boats, kayaks, and paddleboards from the nearby Lost Lake Resort.
There are several hiking trails around Lost Lake, including the Lost Lake Butte Trail, which provides stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. There are also several picnic areas around the lake, as well as a campground with tent and RV sites.
One unique feature of Lost Lake is that during the spring and early summer months, the lake appears to "disappear" as the water drains through a hole in the bottom of the lakebed. This is due to a volcanic tube that runs underneath the lake and drains the water into the ground. The lake typically refills during the late summer or fall.
