Paulina Lake is a volcanic crater lake located in Deschutes National Forest in central Oregon, United States. It is situated at an elevation of 6,350 feet (1,940 meters) and is about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) wide and 250 feet (76 meters) deep. The lake was formed about 6,000 years ago when a volcano erupted and collapsed, creating the caldera that now holds the lake. Paulina Lake is a popular recreational destination for fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. It also serves as a source of water for irrigation and power generation. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon.
