The lake has a surface area of 660 acres and a maximum depth of 30 feet. It is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control, hydroelectric power, and recreation. The lake’s recreational activities include swimming, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and picnicking. It is also a popular destination for hunting during the fall season. Curwensville Lake is surrounded by scenic mountain vistas and is home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and black bears.
