About this destination
Mauch Chunk Lake is a man-made lake located in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. The lake was built in the 1970s as a part of a flood control project by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. It's a popular destination for fishing, boating, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. The hiking trails around the lake offer scenic views of the surrounding forest and the lake itself. There are also several picnic areas, playgrounds, and a beach for swimming. The lake is open year-round, but the swimming area is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
