Ponaganset Reservoir

Ponaganset Reservoir, RI. Ponaganset Reservoir is a reservoir located in northwest Rhode Island, approximately 10 miles from downtown Providence. It is the primary drinking water source for more than 60,000 residents in the Smithfield area. The reservoir is surrounded by conservation lands, including the George Washington Management Area and the Buck Hill Management Area. It is also a popular destination for fishing, boating, and hiking. The reservoir is managed by the Providence Water Supply Board, which requires a permit for recreational use
