Pickerel Lake is a glacial, freshwater lake located in northeastern South Dakota in the United States. The lake is situated in Day County, approximately 3 miles south of Grenville and 8 miles northeast of Waubay. The lake covers an area of approximately 9,500 acres, with a maximum depth of 30 feet and an average depth of 14 feet. Pickerel Lake is known for its excellent fishing, particularly for walleye, northern pike, and yellow perch. The surrounding area is also popular for hunting, camping, boating, and other outdoor recreational activities. The Pickerel Lake State Park is located on the southeast shore of the lake and offers camping, fishing, hiking, and swimming opportunities.
