About this destination

Percy Priest Lake is a man-made reservoir located in Middle Tennessee, encompassing parts of Davidson, Wilson, and Rutherford counties. The lake was named after Congressman Percy Priest, who was instrumental in the project to build the dam that created the reservoir. The lake is approximately 42 miles long and covers over 14,000 acres. It was created in the early 1960s as part of a flood control and hydroelectric power generation project. Today, it is a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and other recreational activities. There are several parks and recreational areas around the lake, including Nashville Shores Waterpark, Long Hunter State Park, and Hamilton Creek Recreation Area. The lake is also home to numerous marinas and boat ramps, making it easy for visitors to access the water. Fishermen come to Percy Priest Lake in search of crappie, bass, catfish and bluegill. The lake is also a popular spot for water sports, including wakeboarding and waterskiing. With its proximity to Nashville, the lake is a great place for a day trip or weekend getaway.
