About this destination
Lake Travis is a large reservoir located in central Texas, United States. It was formed in 1942 by the construction of Mansfield Dam on the Colorado River and covers an area of about 19,000 acres. The lake is a popular recreational area for boating, fishing, and swimming. It also supplies water to the surrounding towns and cities, including Austin. The lake is named after Congressman E. W.
