Lake Anna is a 13,000-acre (52.6 sq km) man-made lake located in Louisa, Spotsylvania, and Orange counties in Virginia, USA. It was created in 1971 when the North Anna River was dammed for use as a cooling water reservoir for the North Anna Nuclear Generating Station. The lake is a popular recreational destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and other water activities. There are several marinas, campgrounds, and vacation homes along the shoreline, as well as parks with hiking trails and picnic areas. The lake is also used for hydroelectric power generation, as well as water supply for surrounding areas.
