Lake Moomaw is a 2,530-acre body of water located in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia, near the border with West Virginia. The lake is situated within the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests and is a popular spot for fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. It was created in 1980 by the construction of the Gathright Dam on the Jackson River and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish, including trout, bass, and catfish, and there are several campgrounds and recreation areas available for visitors.
