Philpott Lake is a 3,000-acre reservoir located in the southwestern part of Virginia, near the town of Bassett. The lake was created in the 1950s by the construction of Philpott Dam on the Smith River. Today, the lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is a popular destination for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
