About this destination

Waller Mill Reservoir is a 360-acre body of water located in James City County, Virginia. The reservoir was created in 1942 when a dam was built across Warwick River to supply water to the surrounding area. Today, Waller Mill Reservoir is a popular spot for fishing, boating, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The reservoir is home to a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and yellow perch. Anglers can fish on the reservoir from boats, kayaks, canoes, or the fishing pier located near the dam. In addition to fishing, Waller Mill Reservoir offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. The park surrounding the reservoir has hiking trails, picnic areas, and a playground. There is also a boat launch for those who want to explore the reservoir by water. Waller Mill Reservoir is also an important stopover for migratory birds, and visitors may spot ospreys, bald eagles, and great blue herons. The park is open year-round, and there is a nominal fee for park admission and boat launch.
