About this destination
Somerset Reservoir is a 1,200-acre man-made lake in southern Vermont. It is located in the southern Green Mountains and is part of the Green Mountain National Forest. The reservoir was created in 1937 by the construction of Somerset Dam on the Deerfield River. The reservoir is a popular destination for fishing, boating, swimming, and camping in the summer, and ice fishing and snowmobiling in the winter. The surrounding area offers hiking trails and scenic drives, with beautiful views of the reservoir and the mountains. Somerset Reservoir is managed by the US Forest Service and requires a day use fee for visitors.
