Lake Wingra is a small freshwater lake located in Madison, Wisconsin. It is roughly 337 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 19 feet. The lake is connected to two other bodies of water, the Yahara River to the north and the Wingra Creek to the south, which eventually flow into Lake Mendota. Lake Wingra is popular for fishing, boating, and kayaking, and is surrounded by several public parks, including Wingra Park, Vilas Park, and the University of Wisconsin Arboretum. The lake is also home to a variety of wildlife, including waterfowl, muskrats, frogs, and turtles.
