Sutton Lake is a man-made reservoir located in central West Virginia, USA. It was created in the 1950s by the US Army Corps of Engineers by damming the Elk River. The lake covers an area of about 1,420 acres and has a shoreline of about 40 miles. Sutton Lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, swimming, and camping. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish species, including bass, catfish, musky, and trout. There are several campgrounds and picnic areas located around the lake, as well as hiking and biking trails. Sutton Dam, which created the lake, is also a popular spot for picnicking, hiking, and birdwatching.
