Fontenelle Reservoir is a man-made reservoir located in Lincoln County, Wyoming, United States. It is situated on the Green River, just south of the town of Big Piney. The reservoir has a surface area of 20,533 acres and a maximum depth of 197 feet. It was created in 1964 when the Fontenelle Dam was constructed on the Green River for irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric power generation. The reservoir is popular for fishing, boating, and camping, and is home to a variety of fish species including rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, as well as bass, walleye, and catfish. The area surrounding the reservoir is also known for its scenic beauty and opportunities for recreation such as hiking and wildlife viewing.
