About this destination

Lake Cameahwait is a reservoir located in Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. It was created as part of the Fontenelle Dam project on the Green River, completed in 1964. The lake is named after Chief Cameahwait, a leader of the Shoshone tribe who aided the Lewis and Clark expedition in the early 1800s. The lake is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and camping, and offers scenic views of the surrounding Wind River Range. The lake also serves as a source of irrigation and provides hydroelectric power to the regional power grid.
