Lake De Smet is a reservoir located in northeastern Wyoming, south of the town of Sheridan. It is situated in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains and covers an area of approximately 11,000 acres. The lake was created in 1939 with the construction of the 245-foot-high Willow Creek Dam on the creek of the same name. The lake is stocked with several species of fish, including rainbow and brown trout, walleye, and bass, making it a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. The area around the lake offers camping, boating, and hiking opportunities, as well as scenic views of the Bighorn Mountains.
