Lake Maurepas is a large brackish lake in southeastern Louisiana in the United States. It is situated between Lake Pontchartrain and the Atchafalaya River Basin and covers an area of approximately 81,000 acres. The lake is connected to Lake Pontchartrain by Pass Manchac and to the Mississippi River by the Amite River. The lake provides important habitat for a variety of fish and wildlife, including redfish, speckled trout, blue crab, and brown pelicans. The area surrounding Lake Maurepas is also popular for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and hunting.
