Lake Atoka Reservoir is a man-made lake located in southeastern Oklahoma, United States. It was created in 1959 by the construction of a dam on Muddy Boggy Creek, a tributary of the Red River. The lake covers an area of about 14,000 acres and has a maximum depth of about 88 feet. It is the largest lake in southeastern Oklahoma and serves as a major source of drinking water for the city of Dallas, Texas. The lake is also popular for fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and bird watching. The area around the lake is home to a variety of wildlife, including whitetail deer, bobcats, coyotes, and numerous species of birds.
